Guidance Students Prepare for College

Scholars and Young Scholars graduates in high school have been working closely with SEEDS’ Guidance team to prepare for the next step in their academic journeys.

Guidance kicked off the summer by partnering with SEEDS’ Placement team to host College Day, where 250 students and family members met with representatives from colleges across the country. Then, in July, SEEDS’ Guidance team organized a two-day College Tour to visit four colleges. With stops at Connecticut College, the College of the Holy Cross, Amherst College and Wesleyan University, SEEDS grads had the opportunity to tour campuses and learn more about what each has to offer. Once again this summer, more than 20 students prepared to take the SAT with classes twice each week provided by Foley Test Prep.

Before high school seniors headed off to college, the Guidance team hosted a senior send off. Serving as an official transition from SEEDS’ Guidance program to the Alumni Association, the event was a chance for students to reconnect with each other before heading off to college. Students also heard from two rising college sophomores – Jordan Andrews (SEEDS ’10, Montclair Kimberley Academy ’17, Amherst College) and Ashley Maldonado (SEEDS ’13, Gill St. Bernard’s School ’17, Boston College) – about their transitions to college and experiences on campus.
