College Scholars Refine Personal Statements

The Summer Collegiate Experience for SEEDS’ College Scholars kicked off in late June at Hobart and William Smith Colleges (photos).

Students continued preparing for college, which included drafting personal statements for upcoming applications and learning more about the college process (the common application, scholarship research and fly-in opportunities). In addition, students focused on literary analysis (dissecting the play “Arcadia,” and studying theater and philosophy) and read “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” to inspire discussion on the transition to college.

Students also heard more about Hobart and William Smith Colleges from the admissions team on campus and took a college tour to visit Cornell University and Syracuse University. In addition to their time studying and in class, College Scholars spent time playing sports and participating in a variety of other special events, including an escape room, a bake off, a talent showcase and the annual SEEDS Olympics.

Students headed back to Saturday class with SEEDS on Saturday, September 8 at Drew University.
