The Office of Admissions hosts events throughout the year to help students and families learn more about SEEDS.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

Understanding Independent Schools and the SEEDS Advantage (RSVP HERE). The session will focus on the core benefits of an independent school education, including small classes, strong academic support, vibrant communities, and meaningful opportunities for student growth, while also highlighting how SEEDS helps students access and thrive in these environments. The session will feature representatives from Newark Academy, The Hill School, and other independent schools.

SEEDS Parent and Alumni Panel (RSVP HERE). Applying to SEEDS can feel like a big step. This virtual alumni and parent panel offers families the opportunity to hear firsthand from those who have been through the process. SEEDS alumni and parents will discuss their journeys, what participation in SEEDS has meant for their children and families, and what to expect along the way. This is for families who are applying to the Young Scholars or Scholars Programs.

Previously Recorded events for families interested in the COLLEGE SCHOLARS PROGRAM (10th and 11th grade students)

Scholars Program Open House (November 20, 2025). (VIEW RECORDING). Join us as we take a tour through the Scholars Program from the eyes of SEEDS staff and students. This event is meant for families with students in 7th grade.

 

Demystifying Selective College Admissions (October 9, 2025) (VIEW RECORDING). Join representatives from NYU and Stanford for a candid conversation about what highly selective institutions are looking for, how to stand out in the admissions process, and how to make informed decisions about your college journey. Students and families will have the chance to ask questions and hear directly from admissions professionals at two leading universities. This event is for families with students in 11th grade who are considering applying to the College Scholars Program.

Student and Parent Panel (October 2, 2025) (VIEW RECORDING). Join us as we hear from parents and students as they share their perspectives and experiences about the SEEDS College Scholars Program (for families with students in 11th grade). También habrá un padre que hable español en el panel. 

How to Navigate the College Scholars Program Application and Other Tips (August 7, 2025) (VIEW RECORDING) Watch this session for a helpful and informative session focused on the SEEDS College Scholars Program application! This event is designed for students and families who have been nominated, are considering applying, or are in the process of completing their application.

Panel: Building a Strong College Profile Over the Summer — Featuring Yale University & Davidson College (June 18, 2025) VIEW RECORDING The goal of this event is to help 10th grade students (rising juniors) understand what they can do over the summer to strengthen their college profiles. We hope to provide practical advice on areas such as academic enrichment, extracurricular involvement, leadership development, and meaningful summer activities like internships, volunteer work, or independent projects.

  • Exploring the Benefits of an Independent School Education: A Panel Discussion, ”  (VIEW RECORDING) This panel was presented in both English and Spanish. It includes a robust discussion featuring admissions representatives from private independent day and boarding schools, and explored the unique benefits of an independent school education, including personalized learning, a strong emphasis on character development, and a vibrant arts and extracurricular programs.
