New Jersey SEEDS is looking for high-performing students from low-income communities who want a top-notch education from some of the nation’s best independent schools, colleges and universities.
Students enrolled in SEEDS have access to exceptional educational opportunities. All of our academic programs provide summer sessions and classes each Saturday during the academic year at no cost to you. We work with our scholars upon their graduation to place them into competitive independent schools and universities with substantial financial aid packages.
Interested students must:
Are in 4th or 5th Grades
Live in Newark, Orange, East Orange or Irvington
The goal of the Young Scholars Program is to enhance the educational opportunities of students in the Greater Newark area and assist them in gaining admission into competitive independent schools.
The Young Scholars Program is a free fourteen-month academic program which includes:
* Two free five-week programs over two summers
* Free Saturday classes during the school year
Are in 7th grade
Both live in and attend a public or charter school in a low-income community. (Candidates who attend a private parochial school should contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to verify their eligibility.)
The goal of the Scholars Program is to develop the academic skills and knowledge of students and allow them to successfully enroll at competitive independent schools.
The Scholars Program is a free fourteen-month academic program which includes:
* Two free residential summer sessions after 7th and 8th grade
* Free Saturday classes during the 8th grade school year
Are nominated by their guidance counselor or principal (students may be nominated as early as April of their sophomore year up until October of their junior year)
Live in New Jersey and attend one of SEEDS’ eligible College Scholars high schools
The goal is to change the lives of top-performing, low-income students by creating access to and graduation from selective colleges, supported by exceptional preparation, ongoing guidance and sufficient financial aid.
The College Scholars Program is a free 17-month academic program which includes:
* One free three-week residential session on a college campus the summer before 12th grade
* Saturday academic classes during the spring of 11th grade and throughout 12th grade
